WOooooooooooooooW....its been forever!
But yeah anyways, I've completed my work on Disney's, "The Princess and the Frog" and now I'm on vacation for a few weeks. I gave myself the goal of starting work on one of my personal projects during that time. I had a couple ideas, but I decided to focus on a retelling of the Billy Goats Gruff tale. I looooove it when fairy tales get kinda dark and creepy, and Billy Goats Gruff has that potential. I've been focusing most of my energy so far on the troll and the bridge, the creepy part. I posted some troll drawings a couple of years ago on this blog. I was pretty happy with the design at the time, so I tried to take what I did then and elaborate on it a little bit. Mostly I just added a body. I got pretty stuck on what his body should look like. I knew I wanted long spidery arms, and little back legs, but I couldn't get the right body shape to tie it all together. What really helped me was to think about how he would move. Then a body shape just kind of popped out!
Anyways the story and the characters have a long way to go, but I think the troll is headed in the right direction. Hopefully next time I'll have some bridge/setting type art. Or maybe some storyboards!
Thanks for looking! Sorry I'm a terrible blogger!

I love dark fairytales too. Nice concept drawings too :) . Are you sad to be finishing at disney?
Yeah! Hager is back, baby!
Those troll designs are gnarly and awesome. Definitely let me know if you need beard reference for your goats

Wow! i like your works! I really like your style and it's great you'd worked to Disney film "the princess and the frog"! I think it will be a wonderful movie...I hope to see others new drawings:)
see you soon!
(Sorry for my english!)
These are really cool, Jenn....seriously.
Adobe Photoshop? Corel Painter? What did you use?
These are cool, jen! I like the kind of mutant dog quality of the body :)
Nice to see a new post. I was beginning to wonder if you would disappear into your work and never come out. :) Personally, I think I like Gmork better, but the troll's interesting, too. :)

Awesome new post!
Sweet Trolls Jen!
My favorite is the second one-
Very attractive.
Nice.
Is this something you're going to animate eventually?
YESSSSSSSSS!!!
Jen you said you didn't like painting with shape. But that one is my favorite! It looks so awesome! I think you should see it through a little longer before you abandon it. :) Can't wait to see the storyboards!
Thank you for the nice comments everyone!
Amanda-I didn't finish at Disney, I'm just on vacation. So its not too sad! I'm mostly sad about the people that Disney laid off or that left after the production.
Shane-Its mostly photoshop, but the second one without lines I did in Painter Essentials(Painter lite....very lite)
Scoopy-Hopefully!! That's a long way off though. I'd like to do some animation tests of the characters sooner then that though. It will help me figure out how to draw them if I draw them moving though space.
Heidi- haha, thanks dude! Yeah I think I just don't know what do after that point. I start adding lines and it just looks stupid. I just need to experiment more.
very nice, Jen!!! I love your expressions and how pushed your mouth drawings are.
Oh I can't wait to see how this develops. I hope there's some animating involved :D
(Btw, I met you at Disney that one day through Randeep. And your calarts films rock, always looking forward to seeing stuff from you)
Freaky :)
You have the most amazing work, I am really happy to see that your posting again!! Your demo reel was an inspiration to me for my last year of school. I remeber finding your reel in 2005, and it really got me into animation. I am now finished a three year traditional program, and I have to say, I watched your reel over and over. It truly inspired me to work hard, and see what the best student animation is. I finished a film, and I would love for you to check it out:) http://vimeo.com/4736191
Sorry bout the long message, but I couldn't find your email, and wanted to tell you how GREAT you are, and how you helped me finish a film!
Trent
cool! Looking forward to seeing more.
(btw, I also met you at Disney with Amanda and Randeep like 5 months ago)
Great! Now you have to keep posting!
YOU NEVER UPDATE! so now you do. good.
very good work bravo
Hey all your work follower were starving for some update in this blog. Please don't do it again and update often. An if you have the chance tell us with shots are yours in the upcoming Disney movie. :)
Yay you're back!
One of my professors at SCAD showed us your demo reel not too long ago and, I have to say what an inspiration it was to me as an animator. I wish I'd had the time to be more prolific while at school.
I'm a horrible blogger too...
I think you're taking this in the right direction! you are one talented artist. You're demo reel is probably one of thee best ever by a student.
Lookn' fwd to seeing more:)
Amazing, Jennifer! I love your work so much! I saw your demo reel on You Tube, and now I'm your fan! ^^

I just ran across your amazing drawings and animation and its just breath taking. Im only 17 but I have big dreams to become like you someday and thanks for posting your amazing work it really gives me a bunch of motivation to work really hard. Thanks :)
chris
Hello! I just wanted to say how incredibly impressed I am by your work. The line quality of your art is astounding. You really amaze me!
I believe I'm late but anyway...
Forgive me for sounding a little creeper-ish but I saw your animation reel on Youtube! I loved it alot, it was good to see some potential again.
Well aside from that, I really like these troll concepts. I don't think I've ever seen anyone draw a troll like this before, and you brought out the monster-under-the-bridge feel definantly with those long arms of his!
And I just have to ask: what's it like working at Disney Studios? I hope one day to become an animator and work there some day, and being an avid Disney fan I felt the need to ask. :P
Beautiful work. Your drawings are so expressive and really set a mood. They're just like I've opened a book on a random page or clicked on a mov part of the way through.
hey jennifer love your work waited in the credits of princess and the frog to see you name anyway I would love for you to take a look at my SCAD senior animation http://www.dreamdelivery.blogspot.com/
Hey! I saw your name in the Princess and the Frog trailer! I knew you worked on it, but that was really neat!
I simply adore your work. I'm an Aerial artist who has just become entranced with your dark creature from "Lights Out" and have been working on a Silk routine that is somewhat inspired by that image.
Keep up your amazing work!!!
Remember, "You have to live spherically--in many directions... Accept yourself for what you are without inhibitions... Put yourself into life and never lose your openness, your childish enthusiasm throughout the journey that is life, and things will come your way." (Fellini)
Great Trolls, kinda Creepy ha
